What is Aphasia?
Aphasia is a language disorder that occurs most commonly as the result of a stroke. Aphasia may affect how much language you understand, how much language you can express, or both. Aphasia does NOT affect your intelligence. For more information and resources on Aphasia, please visit the Aphasia Institute. |
What is Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA)?
PPA is a diagnosis like Aphasia which involves a loss of language without the presence of a stroke or injury to the brain. Individuals with PPA experience only a loss of language for at least 2 years before other symptoms start to appear. Our services can help prepare individuals and families for what to expect, and provide resources and communicative supports, particularly in earlier stages of a PPA diagnosis. |
